What kind of satisfaction do hackers get from giving people computer viruses?

It used to be about the challenge back in the old days, Now its mostly about money or "fame" if you can call someone knowing you l33t haxor name that.

Especially when it buggers up a large corporation - it makes me...ah hem....them, so proud! lol!
Reply:It seems like it is a sense of almost god-like power to be able to just screw with so many people and do that type of damage. It comes from perhaps a person who has been bullied or is just a plain sociopath. They have absolutely no empathy for others and never will. The best anyone can do to fight them is to continue to update their anti-virus software and run all the utilities for it very frequently. Also when using a internet connection which is constantly running even when your computer is shut off, pull the connection out of the wall to keep hackers from further abusing your computer. Now, of course, with all the laptops in town, anyone can use your internet service without you even knowing they are doing so.
Reply:Most of the time they are probably twig armed little geekboys who have no other muscle to flex except there "hacking" muscle. They are losers with no lives that are probably enjoying a nice view from there mothers basement as we speak. Its there way of saying "take that world....give me acne and glasses, I'll show you" Evil little twits!
Reply:Maybe these viruses are designed to send out personal information which they can later use to drain bank accounts.





Others do it in a misguided attempt to get microsoft to clamp down on the vulnerabilities in its applications (many viruses exploit holes which don't need to be there).





Still others do it because it's a challenge and it's bad and they're teenaged kids who get satisfaction from doing something challenging and wrong.

Reply:They get the same kind of satisfaction as some serial killers. The god complex.
Reply:They are considerd nerds messing with others computers. too bad they could not receive the same treatment. Funny how we buy these computers and pay so much money for them and the manufactures cannot stop this noinsense. Lately these hackers are being caught and that is a start.
Reply:The same satisfaction that vandals get from dumping trash on peoples' doorstep, TPing their yard, or spray painting their house.

Reply:the power trip given by causing kaos to all the "current sales men" ex-jocks who stuck their heads in toilets in high school ...
Reply:Same mentality as Taggers and Graffiti artists. They need a life and search for it in the wrong ways.
Reply:i think they just like to know that they have the power to infiltrate another person's computer. maybe it's a computer-fixer-upper person who is the only person in the world who can remove the virus and he wants to make money out of it...? i don't know...either way, it's WRONG!

Reply:maybe the pleasure of feeling invincible and eavesdropping on others personal information. also the feeling of dominance thinking they rule the world.

Reply:the average computer viruses are designed by 12 yr olds. they have the satisfaction of knowing they outsmarted adults and the fact they can make a virus. it makes them happy to accomplish something with there rather boring lives.

because of hackers. I don't keep any personal info at all. A friend of ours


got a phone call from his brother who had a call from a friend. His friend


asked him if he knew so and so and he said he is my brother. He said


his personal info, banking and everything else is out over the internet.


Our friend, gave up his computer and that was the end of it. He also


worked for a big company and was connected to his work and that


caused a huge problem. Hackers can tap into your banking info and


almost anything else. I never do business over the internet.
Reply:They do it for attention. Have you ever seen a hacker?...they are usually freaky looking people who couldnt get a date if they tried. So they hack to get attention from their other freaky looking peers.
Reply:i think it make them more self confident about theyr iq.
Reply:Probably the fact that its the only way they can get any reaction from people and it makes them feel important. If only they woke up and realised that they could do so much good by applying their brain to something more positive and then people would sit up and take notice for all the right reasons.
Reply:That's a question only they can answer. It's too bad they aren't putting the talent God blessed them with and using it to help mankind.
