You can not satisfy all the people all of the time. Even if you have the ability to do that. I think that a manager should supply a climate that most people are happy in. You have rules and regulations that the company has set. But within the manager's power and within the good of the total department, you should do everything to enhance the job satisfaction of the employees. The key to that is understanding the priorities of the workers. I had a group that I got when I was hired who was in real conflict. I gave them a list of 10 or so items and asked them to individually prioritize them. I used that to understand the priorities of the individuals. I had a supervisor that actually asked for a demotion because he did not want the responsibility and understood that he would get a pay cut. Made him a better employee and increased the Job satisfaction of the whole department.
Reply:Assuming said employees understand their responsibility to act fiduciary in the best interests of the employer, yes.





This is a give and take relationship. Management should not reward bad behavior in the workforce.
