How does cigerette smoking give satisfaction to smokers?

what is the process?

How the gas gives comfort to with the tensions?

what is the underlying chemistry of the smoking?

How does cigerette smoking give satisfaction to smokers?
because it pisses the hell out of non smokers
Reply:After awhile nicotine stimulates the same hormones that are stimulated when you eat or have sex. which make you feel like you are ok. ok I have food, ok I have sex, ok I have a cigarette.
Reply:I'm a smoker, and while it does FEEL like it makes us feel better and calm us down and such, it's really like any other drug, it's psychological. All of us smokers could quit if we really wanted to.
Reply:In the beginning of smoking there is some you can call it relaxation (due to less amount of oxygen in lungs and brain)

After some time it become a habit. more over since the more you pull air the more cigarette burn, smokers feel that it a way of relieving.
Reply:cigarette smoking is often a way to relieve boredom. it gives your hand something to do.

It's also seen by smokers as a way to relieve stress or anxiety. It's also obviously an addiction.

Many smokers also see it as a good complement to alcohol. This is how many smokers started smoking. By smoking at parties or at bars.
Reply:it does not and that is the reason for repeating it again and again
Reply:Nicotine increases release of acetylcholine in the synapses of the brain and thus increases their activity.

This is why many smokers claim smoking makes them more awake and alert - it does. This action also shortens reaction time and increases attention (that's simply what increased cholinergic activity does in the brain.

This is the reason why so many truckers smoke.

Increased activity of the cholinergic neurons increases release of the neurotransmitter dopamine in the reward pathways of your brain. Reward circuitry - once you're hooked on nicotine, it keeps reinforcing the addiction.

The brain produces more endorphine when exposed to nicotine - again, it feels good, you want more.

Unfortunately nicotine is a drug that works very well and very strong, that's why it is so hard to kick.
Reply:It does not. As an ex-chain smoker I can say that it gave me a "false impression" that I am getting something out of it. The only satisfaction is that I've fed my brain with Nicotine, and have enough smokes left for the day when next craving hits.

Satisfaction to what? I used to smoke when happy, sad, lonely, partying, stressed and relaxed. These are all opposite situations. So obviously, its all in the head. I quit cold turkey and do not crave for cigarettes at all anymore. I credit my success to all the information available on the internet - if I had all this at my fingertips 10 years ago, I would not have started.
Reply:it helps us live in a world full of politically correct people who assume they know best how people should live.
Reply:Nicotine... When you begin smoking it actually does relieve tension and depression, chemically speaking. So it does do the job its supposed to do. And yes, I am a smoker. But its a double edged sword because once the addiction kicks in it ends up creating its own tension and depression. So if your constantly running low on nicotine (and your tension and depression are high anyway) your essentially doubling exactly what you where trying to get rid of in the first place.
Reply:As a smoker, not a damn thing. I'm just addicted to

cancers sticks. Still trying to quit but it's so

difficult to do. I know, it's such a waste isn't it!
Reply:Nicotene is a drug, and is addictive, I thought the world knew that. The habit with the hand thing is a part of it too. I am killing myself with the damn cigarettes. I'm sure you would say, "why don't you just quit" oh god.I wish I had never smoked. Nicotene is more addictive than heroine. Some people are addicts. Others aren't, if your not you wouldn't understand.

  1. Are you paying over $5 per pack of cigs? I'm buying all my cigs over at Duty Free Depot and this saves me over 60%.
