Do you have any recommendations for what might improve your work erperience/job satisfaction?
Most definitely improved training.

Most definitely a review of the politics and why people can't get the jobs (or even interviews) that they've applied for internally. Not even a courtesy letter explaining that someone else was more qualified.

More exit interviews.

A gym.

A day-care on site.

A better eat-in onsite.

More security patrolling the parking decks/levels.

A lot more respect and a lot less of the "good-ol'boy" system.

A lot less nepotism.
Reply:The best book to read on this matter, in order to achieve happiness at work, is Flow - the psychology of optimal experience.

The book contains clear principles and procedures for achieving the state of "flow" where you feel happy in the moment, because the task you are doing totally engages your being while providing you with the sense of control all humans need.

Good luck!
Reply:Provide people with responsibility and requisit authority to do their jobs properly. All staff must have training which is targetted to meet the business plan for their function. Team working is essential so that staff can cover for one another and that all the skills of the team are fully utilised.
