What is your satisfaction rating of a Jeep Cherokee?

Is the SUV reliable, have you had any major problems, how satisfied are you? How does it compare to its peers?

I've looked at consumer reports, just wanted to see what yahoo users have to say.

What is your satisfaction rating of a Jeep Cherokee?
I've owned a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Classic for 4 years. I've had absolutely no major problems with it and it has required little to no maintenance. The thing is bulletproof.

That being said, there are a couple of little things wrong with it. My power windows will only roll up/down with the driver's switch. Also, my rear brakes tend to lock up easily in the rain.

It's got 94,000 miles on it, and I'm expecting at least 94,000 more.
Reply:It is to top heavy and lousy traction tends to hydroplane in the rain and you may loose control
Reply:Love my 2000 Jeep Cherokee. It was the final year of this model. Unless you take it off-road hardcore, it should be reliable. Of course any American car will have many more problems than the jap cars.
Reply:I have have a 1988 and a 1999. The 99 has given me all kinds of trouble and the reliability does not appear to be getting any better. (Replaced rear axle, turn signal switch, A/C low pressure sensor, sunroof leak, transmission rattle, non-functioning ABS, O2 sensor) Go with the new larger RAV4.
Reply:I have an 88 cherokee and I have been working on it all the time for the last year. I don't like it very much at all and wish I still had my Toyota. I'd stay clear of them. too many relays, sensors, and computers.
