Uplighting - what are the pros, cons, and your dis/satisfaction level?

I was wondering who has switched from conventional downlighting (nightstand) to less common uplighting and desired some feedback (pros, cons...of the bulb type, and/or your personal dis/satisfaction). Thinking about redoing the type of lighting in the bedroom. Thanks

Uplighting - what are the pros, cons, and your dis/satisfaction level?
In my family room I mixed table lamps with remote dimmers, wall fixture lights with remote dimmers, and added a ceiling fan with a light kit and remote control. I really like having the option of all three types of lighting and the dimmer option.
