reporting and consultation gives;

1) recognition of each wing

2) create understanding

3) create involvement

4) create a bondage between two layers

5) erase ego

6) create pride and make a person to believe that he is indispensable in the team - that create more involvement (like mother and child) in the process - which take the person to the top

naturally it becomes stronger - then this mechanism result more productivity and then job satisfaction - (job satisfaction comes out of pride - and the consultation satisfy this ego - then the team will be a successful team.

someone will get out of the work within a minit, and some one will try further more time and getout. i pull water from the well within a minit and for the second bucket, i will get tiredness..i and my friend one day done a running race..my friend got tired within a minit, may be age problem. what do you say ? i know you are confused..don't get confusion.. you can answer on any matter.

It took a while to figure out how to get satisfaction, cause I always spill it all just at the thrill of lowering the bucket, but I eventually found I could just keep on lowering the bucket for about 10 minutes and get lots of water. The trick is, don't stop. Now that I'm so old, I not sure I could do that anymore, but I'd sure try hard if I got the chance. I do get tired, but it's worth it.

Most companies look at customer support as an expense. They try to keep all expenses at a minimum. This would include customer support. They don't seem to understand that poor customer support can cost them customers (in other words, profits) in the future. It puzzles me, too.

When I drink and have sex with my girl friend I normally get late....at least I can stand for about 45 minutes til i get the first ejaculation. On non-drinking days, sadly I lose the juice in just 15 minutes...so there goes....and proves that drinking is a good component for sex....Is this true?

I'm so bored with my job. I'm not happy with it. I'm working in the middle east and being an expat myself, its a great priviledge to work here and at the same time be close to the whole family. My salary compared to some is a lot more plentiful, considering the not so many tasks that I have at hand. (See I even have time to go through Yahoo Answers) If only my family is not here, whom I'm suppoting, I would never doubt of changing a job. A job that I would really love and at the same time enjoy. But doing this would mean I will have lesser time with my kids. If I don't do it then my futire career will suffer becuase this is really not the job I want to excel in. What do you think should I do? I am battling between my professional satisfaction and family ties. Thanks for helping.

Reply:Hard question. My sympathies.10 years ago, I quit a job after 13 years to spend more time with my family. Times where tight, but it made the family tighter. Material gain is nice. Being able to provide all of life's extra amenities is great. But kids grow up, and all too soon are gone out on their own. Will they have the wisdom of their parents to take with them? Managers must keep the interests of the company in mind FIRST. That being said, keeping employees happy is a HUGE part of the company's health. So they go hand in hand.

Doing "everything" they can needs to stay within the policy of the company handbook (seriously) and also build up their staff. Most of all - equal treatment to each employee. I have gotten in more bad situations because of real or percieved favoritism among my staff. Getting creative when showing that you are listening to them, care about their career goals etc is a talent - but, it also is learned thru trial and error. Employees need to earn respect but managers must provide an atmosphere where they want to.

Agreed. Satisfied employees are more productive and make a manager's job easier and it reflects well on the manager.
Reply:it all depends on who you are asking. If you are asking the employee, they will more than likely say yes.

Me on the other hand am part of the management and I have found that I have to draw the line when quality, production, customer service, and the company become jeopardized.

So with that said I would have to say "NO". I would not place my employees satisfaction over and what is best for the company. If you did you would be catering to your employees and not you customers.

Although this I'm sure is not a popular opinion, look at how unions have hurt companies and there preformance. If you were to do everything you could do, bending over backward, to make your employees happy, you would be giving them just what they needed to bankrupt the company.

If good employees are satisfied the turnover will be low and the company will run efficiently and in the black.

A company with a low turnover keeps experience working for them. The longer a good employee stays, the more experience that company has to draw off of.

Bank are crediting my account, have cancelled my card and will send me a fraud statement to sign. Have also advised me to 'watch my account' for the next few days. SCARY!

Reply:My debit card was nailed, too. I'm still not sure how, seeing as I don't even use it for on line shopping. I was not happy at all with what I had to go through after wards...police reports, bank statements to sign and when yahoo (yep, that's who charged my card with a nifty $2500 fee for business start up) stated that they had an idea who the person was (in California-I'm in Michigan) they refused to release a name because she had rights. Rights? They were stealing from me! Thieves have no rights! I agree with wishing pain and suffering.

Reply:By nature I am a giver. I give my heart, my soul and my energy into everything I have a passion for. It gives me a great sense of satisifaction knowing that I can provide happiness for someone just by "giving" myself. To me it is one of the most simple ways to show you care!

On the other hand, I do enjoy receiving. Not so much material presents, for they are just a 'token' of someone's appreciation. I am talking about receiving someone's love, understanding, compassion, 'words of wisdom', trust, friendship, 'ear to lend'...etc, etc, etc. When I am the receiver of these "gifts", well I just feel over the moon! It makes me satisfied just to know that others truly do care.
Reply:To be quite honest I think the satisfaction is equal, I love recieving gifts (Who doesn't) It is good to know that someone is showing their appreciation of you. Mind you recieving is not just gifts, it could be love, thanks or whatever.

With giving, I love to give to ppl, it is good to showw ppl how much you value them as a person and that their existance is worthwhile.

Reply:I think there are plenty of cultures around the world that show this idea to be a lie. In many traditional cultures, cooperation, sustainability and modesty are treasured values and while greed may exist in some pockets, it is not exhalted as it is in our culture.

These lies of competition, ownership and domination really foul our minds and create a world where simple living is looked on as an aberation. I remember watching a part of an Oprah show on how people can do well without credit or a lot of money.

One guy featured had a modest job, single dad, and had bought a small home, an older car, and older boat. Because the luxuries were small and old the audience actually laughed at the video presentation. That was a perfect representation of the point I'm trying to make, it isn't that people inherently can't be satisfied or content, it that we as a society have been sold a bill of goods that is b.s. The societal pressure causes us to be miserable with less. This is all towards the enrichment of a select few.

Reply:Experience has demonstrated to me that human beings are capable of anything within the realm of human thought and imagination. I have found what drives most people are basic instincts. These drives are desguised in various ways in order to protect ourselves from the reality that most of us will lie, steal and cheat to get what we want. Most of us are incapaple of reason beyond bigotry. And the moral center, which most of us present to the world is obstensible at best. There are very few of us who are really willing to drink the hemlock(i.e. Socrates and his demonstation of the most fundamental rule of philosophy: whay it is we ought not to lie.) Most of our understandin and practice of faith, hope and charity are perfunctory at best. Most of us are lazy and lack the will to have any meaningful conviction to live life on it's own terms as it comes. comfort for most people does not include an exertion of effort.

Therefore, the motivator of contentment must reinforce people

to look forward to being lazy, but why would someone who

wants to be lazy look forward to being lazy when they can

be lazy in the present and just pretend to be active.

In my opinion, the description to the question you provided

describes enthusiasm and not contentment; enthusiasm

is contra-content, but I wouldn't go so far as to label it

as discontent. I think sometimes enthusiasm can be

mistaken for discontent. The difference being that one

is positive and the other is negative. In my opinion, the lack of

contentment as an opportunity is enthusiasm, and the lack of

contentment as a burden is discontent.

I think enthusiasm is what drives people to enjoy

participation in activity. If I am truly satisfied with my

profession then I should be somewhat put out that

I have to leave the workplace at the end of the day.

I believe that the results are positive in most cases. Theoretically workers are likely to work better if they believe they are part of a team, that their issues are legitimate, and they are listened to, and that the managers are there to work with them. They are also less likely to be dishonest if they feel someone is looking over their shoulder. I personally believe improvement in employee morale is worth much more than the hour or two of work that might be lost.

Managers should be carefull to honor a strictly business relationship, as it's not worth it to get personally involved, if someone is trying to take advantage of your trust.

Obviously you don't work. Communication is the key to any successful working relationship. It is important to build trust and solid working relationships between managers and employees. Open communication between team members, departments, and throughout and organization or critcal function effectively. When communication is open, people know what is expected of them and can deliver results.
Reply:Don't consult with the "subordinates" unless they ask for your help. I work in an office where the average salary is 80K and time consulting with a manager only takes away from what the employee is trying to achieve. I can't tell you how many times I have heard co-workers say they have achieved absolutely nothing that day because they had a meeting with a manager. I think the managers mean well...but support the employee only when it is needed or they asked for it.

Over hear we hunt totaly different to the rest of the world and unlike the rest of the world we have less to hunt.

I enjoy nothing more than a days huntinig but what i try to make people understand is i have all the respect in the world for my Quarry (pray) and when hunting i try my best to show that in which ever way seems fit, whether thats giving my target a chance or just taking me fair share ect.

I have known my self be invited on to a game shoot and shoot perhaps 6 or 7 phesants then put my gun away and work my dog just to give someone who has not been as lucky a chance. At the end of the day i get as much joy out of working my dogs as i do shooting.

When stalking im just the same, i will give my pray the chance.

Ask any british hunter an they will tell you its about passion, conservation and managing the countyrside,,,,, were not hunters were just the caretakers .

the satisfaction that us hunters get when we go hunting is whenever u get ur game u feel that u accompished something in ur life or when u don't get anything when u go hunting then u set goals on ur self next time and u might get something. plus it fun to get out of the house and look at the secenry and have a good time. what i can't stand is ppl who stay in their house all day and watch tv, eat, and play video games and not go outside and do something. hunting gets u n takes u to different hunting places. u see different ppl u make new friends. u get the excersice on walking in the mountains and u can enjoy nature and have a relaxing afternoon. in other words hunting is a good experience for u.

It's not slaughtering them, it's merely keeping there pop level down. think of what u do every day how many bugs do u kill on purpose like ants. They may b a neusance but just think, the game animals will become a neusance if they get overpopulated. Just because theyre smarter than bugs doesnt mean we cant kill a few to keep them from overpopulating. I go hunting and i dont always kill sumthing everytime. Just like my dad says "if you shot sumthing everytime it would be called killing and not hunting,". Think of the Native Americans they didnt survive by eating fruits and berries, they hunted too.

Our bones need certain protiens to be strong and healthy, and u get a lot of those from meats, and dont think the pigs and cows just handed out meat to the processors. Hunters dont just shoot everything they see, we give the animal a fair chance, like we dont just shoot every deer we see, we shoot two tops. Ive only shot two almost every year ive hunted.

Reply:I am with most of the others here, it is a skill where in my case you can purchase up to 6 deer tags at 20$ or less each and result in 300+ pounds of humanely harvested meat for my family in a way that also ensures that the wildlife does not become diseased and overpopulated and keeps our country roads safer for drivers. Hunters in my area are revered and the skillful ones are praised, I wish it was that way everywhere.

Depends. If the managers are open to suggestions and allow changes that don't conflict with company policy or are willing to change policy to increase worker efficiency and comfort, regular meetings can be a good thing.

However, if they are dictatorial these meetings will not fly as "consultations" and will only feel like having someone breathing down the neck.

My Hobbies and feeding my animals. Also my friends and family. I was hurt in a accident at work and now i live my life in a wheelchair. If it wasn't for my love of sports and collecting sports memorabilia and my special time in the morning where i feed the squirrels and birds in my yard from my hand. Both of those have helped to relieve the stress in my life. My friends those ones that stuck with me after the accident and realized i would never be the party guy anymore they stuck around and helped me through the tough transition i had to adjust to in my life. Plus my family for being there for me. If it wasn't for those things i think i would have killed myself. I have now learned that you must take life 1 day at a time and treasure each and every second you have alive. That is what gives me happiness and satisfaction in my life. I live every second as if it was my last and i always tell my family and friends whenever i see them or talk to them what they mean to me. I hope this answered your question. Peace

one gains satisfaction in multiple ways. being comfortable is satisfaction, being happy is as well. if one is entertained, there is a certain satisfaction there. satisfaction is a huge closet full of emotions and choices. during one's day, there will be satisfaction of some sort. eating food, watching a t.v show, talking with friends ect. the rolling stones song 'satisfaction' is a song about not getting any satisfaction, all of the lyrics that mick jagger sings is negative. so satisfaction is anything you get, feel or do that is positive. we all have a couple of minutes of that everyday..right?

Currently have forced air gas heat %26amp; cool. Hate it. Have hot areas and cold areas %26amp; its noisy. For the upstairs to be cool enough to sleep the downstairs has to freeze. Plenty of insulation in house. Considering through the wall ductless units. Do they work well and are they less costly to use. Any experiences out there please?

thru the wall units aren't very efficient.....and if you think your furnace is noisy, then youll be very disappointed with a thru the wall unit

Reply:Mitsubishi, Fujitsu and other ductless systems all work extremely well.

Then again so do conventional systems. The problem is the design and lay-out of the system as others have stated.

Ductless systems are more expensive than conventional but if done right, they are truly impressive.

I would not waste my time and have the system professionally balanced as this is something you are more than capable of doing.

You already know where the hot/ cold and drafty spots are located.

If the heater is newer, you may have a few options there as well. Typically you can set the blower off delay....(time the blower runs after flame is out) from 60 to 240 seconds. You may also want to check for a multi-speed blower motor. Typically heat is run on low, A/C, but you may have medium or medium low and medium high.
Reply:Ductless units work well, but ONLY in the room they are in. Window A/C's have both heat and cooling and are cheaper then the mini-units. If you have enough room in the attic you might consider installing a system in the attic and ducting to ceiling diffusers. Since you haven't mentioned how many areas are involved I couldn't begin to estimate costs. Probably the window units are cheapest - but then you have to deal with the noise. Balancing normally doesn't work well because residential ductwork is not normally designed well nor is it properly-sized. It's sad to say but most two-story homes have the same problem as yours. The builders want the cheapest system installed so that they can maximize their profits and the homebuyer has to live with the results. Good luck to you.
Reply:your house in not in balance for heating and cooling. you need to have the house properly set up by bringing more air flow to the house. you might be getting too much air flow in the house to the basement and not enought to the upstairs in the summer time. if you go to electic heaters or a boiler and water heat will be quieter look into the costs before you do anything and ask lots of questions to the salesmen. remember you don't have to buy even when they have sat and answered questions for 5 hours

I went into Chase today to cash a check written off of a Chase account after I had verified that the money was in the account. They asked me to step away while they counted the money. THEN, they came back with the check and said they wouldn't cash it even though the money was in the account (and available).......that I should come back tomorrow. WHAT? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? He gave me his card and said to have the accountholder call him and now that guy won't even answer. The accountholder's mom is the branch manager of another Chase and she said, "some branch managers make people wait a day because they are gay". Why do they do this and how in the heck do they expect to get our business when they lie straight to our face and treat people this way?

Just politely (remeber if you lose your cool, it's all over) ask why it can't be cashed. If you don't get a valid reason (like the check isn't good) politely ask for the names of those involved. Then ask for a corporate telephone number or address. If you don't get this don't sweat, but you can easily find it online. Then send a letter to the corporate offices and the Better Business Bureau explaining the situation.

A very good cry that needed to be done way before now. I actually was in physical pain from needing to cry and it felt so good to let it all out. Hope you dont think I am insane.

Pretty sad that that is what I had for this question but has been a very rough year for me.

Family problems, sick family and you know Lori always has to be the strong one. Sometimes it really wears me down.

Reply:Watching my spouse, after a very long period of study in preparation for making a religious conversion, finally making that conversion last weekend. I was on the front row watching the service, and felt a deep sense of love, pride and happiness while watching this wonderful person embarking on an exciting spiritual journey. I actually got choked up, something that doesn't happen often, and nearly wept out of a sheer, overwhelming sense of love.

Reply:With the advent of BPO industry, suddenly there is an upsurge in the salaries. Teaching profession has always been a slow growing profession. Today's generation aspires for higher salaries, but this profession doesnt give you all that.

You can get great respect but this profession doesnt give you the monetary dreams that one aspires. as far as the job satisfaction is concerned, it depends on the person taking up the job. if you want money, then it can never satisfy you. but if you want 9 to 5 job, enjoy all holidays along with respect, this is the right choice.
Reply:That part has to come from "within". There are many opportunities for "professional growth", but, you must avail yourself of them. Bad part is you have to separate the "wheat from the chaff" and find those that appeal to you. ONe thing I will say, when the "fire" goes out in a teacher, it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to rekindle.

A first year teacher is full of fire and energy. That may last for 2 to 3 years or even longer. It is when the "grind" gets to them that the fire starts to fade. Lessons are just lessons. Teaching is just regurgigation of words. The one thing that did at my kids elementary was move the teachers around. Never stale for sure. One teacher might be teaching 2nd grade one year and the 5th next. They also had Looping which is where a child has the same teacher for 2 years. Looping is also a way to keep the teaching and the teacher fresh. It is not HOW you do it, it is THAT you do it. YOu either WANT to be the best or you TALK about being the best.

Since no other person can provide happiness for us, then we accept that we are captain of our own ship. One has to have realistic expectations to begin with and has to participate in life. What in the world is the difference between loving a person, and being selfishly attached to them? Love is the sincere wish, for others to be happy and to be free from suffering. Having realistically realized other’s kindness, as well as their faults, Love is Always focused on the other person’s welfare. We have no ulterior intensions or motives to fulfill our own self-interests; or to fulfill our own desires, we love others, all people, simply because they exist. Attachment, on the other hand, exaggerates others’ good qualities, and makes us crave to be with them. When we’re with them, we are happy, but when we’re separated from them, we’re miserable. Attachments are always linked with expectations of what others should be, or what they should do for us. Is love, as it is understood in most societies, really love OR attachment ? Let us examine this a little more. Generally speaking, we are attracted {drawn to) people because they have qualities we value, or because they help us in some way. If we carefully observe, through introspection, our own thought processes we’ll notice that we very often look for specific qualities in others. Some of these qualities we are drawn to are qualities within our parents, or qualities which society values.

We examine someone’s looks, education, social status, financial status, and so forth. This is how Most of us decide on whether or not the person holds any true value, or not. In addition, we judge people as worthwhile according to how they relate to us. Furthermore, we form fixed concepts of what our relationships with these people will be, and thus have expectations of them. “When they do not live up to our expectations of them, we’re unhappy, disappointed or may even become angry. We want them to change so that they will match what we think they are. But our projections and expectations come from our own minds, not from other people. Our problems arise not because others aren’t who we thought they were, but because we mistakenly thought they were something they were not. We often use a type of Checklist also. We fear losing the person, fearing that we’d be incomplete without them.” This does Not mean that we should suppress all our emotional needs, or become aloof, and totally independent, for that too would not solve the problem. We must simply realize our unrealistic needs and slowly, gently and patiently – seek to eliminate them. If we try to suppress them, pretending they do not exist, we become insecure, anxious, or possibly depressed. In this case, we do our best to fulfill our needs, while simultaneously working gradually to subdue them. The core problem is that most of us seek to be loved, rather than to love. We yearn to be understood by others, rather than to understand them. Our sense of emotional insecurities comes from the selfish obscuring of our own minds. We develop confidence by recognizing our inner potential to become a Selfless human being, having many magnificent qualities, and then we’ll develop and have an accurate perception of ourselves, gaining self-confidence. I am in the processes of changing jobs, where I might be happier and I will make more money. In the short my optimism is allowing me to try something new, while her pessimism is holding her back.

Also years ago I read that they have done a study on pessimist, where they had some volunteers look at the brighter side of their situation and others be pessimist. They found that those that used optimism were generally more happy with life.

I just started my university education on a double degree in chemical engineering and economics. While its a course I know I will be able to study and pull through, I am not sure if its really what i'd like to do for the rest of my life. I was told it'll give me a well-paying job though, with good career prospects. What r e nature of jobs in the pharmaceutical industry, besides research?

On the other hand, I am considering a career in physiotherapy. However, physiotherapy is not as established as in other countries such as Australia, US or UK, where I was told the pay was much much better, and physiotherapists are granted much more autonomy with their patients. The diploma+1yr degree conversion course offered locally was not recommended by the seniors I spoke to. I cant afford an overseas education, esp if the job doesnt pay well enough to justify the amount of money spent. But i do like the job, its jus the practicalities of finances tt scares me.

Reply:It depends on what kind of lifestyle you want after you graduate. If you want to live on more money than a physiotherapist could afford, I'd stick with your current course. I wouldn't choose physiotherapy if you really want more pay. Whatever career you get into after university, you don't HAVE to do it for the rest of your life. You're young and will encounter many experiences during and after university that may change your career outlook.
Reply:The work for love vs. money debate has been raging on for years. My advise on the matter are:

1. It's better to do what you love because to be well paid you must be the best. To be the best, you must put long hours and money improving and perfecting your art. And it's easier to put long hours doing something you love vs. something you tolerate/hate.

2. Don't cut corners. There is not easy shortcut to lasting success. Sometimes you have to put in the money on education and credentials, especially in the medical field. If you are the best physiotherapist in Singapore, I'm sure the money will be good.

3. It's never too late to start. If for financial reasons you have to take a job you don't like, your life is not over. Just save up money and switch careers later on in life. I know people who start their dream careers at the age of 40+. While it's definitely better to start early, it's better late than never.
Reply:It is not a simple question. I can only give you my own experience. I've always liked archeology; find it interesting, amazing, it is my passion. However, I decided to study computer science based on the fact that it would give me better career prospects and that I like it. Not only like it, I find solving problems fascinating. I have achieved a lot in my career, make good money and still find it interesting (after 15 years).

But, I know I made the wrong decision. I discovered that the day I figured that I could have been very successful as an archaeologist. The day that I learned that the thing you are most likely to be successful at is that thing that you love. It may be harder, it may be less financial rewarding, but there is no way anything else is going to be as fulfilling.

Only you can make the choice; just keep in mind that passion will take you further than rationale. Not only that; once you start making some money you will believe that you need more and it'll be a lot harder to go back to do something else, no matter how appealing it will look.

I used to work with homeless teens and young adults and my program emphasized self-esteem. I had a really simple strategy based on only one principle: your self esteem can never drop below the greatest thing you've ever done for another human being.

This turned out to be extremely effective with them because they were surrounded by people who lived in constant desperation, and any act of kindness could be regarded as life-saving. So all I had to do is remind them from time to time of the things they did for one another, and all I had to do was find a single example any time a problem came up, and if the example was a real event, who can argue?

Here's a story for an example of what I'm talking about.

I worked with street kids for about 2 years. During that time, most of the time, I delivered pizza for a living because the night hours were more compatible with the night hours kept by the kids. (I also got half-off on pizzas.)

One night, one of the girls, a 15-year-old, went into a phone booth and found a 20-dollar-bill. Most kids would just go buy 2 dime bags or leverage it into taking advantage of someone. This girl brought it to me and asked if we could feed some of the kids with a pizza.

I went to my shop and bought one of our 36-inch pizzas half off (that's about double the width of the average x-large, one of our specialties). When I brought it home, she was there waiting for me, and we were able to feed 15 kids. They all ate until they were full and we ended up throwing away a little of it.

The whole night, I kept reminding all who came in how we were able to get it, and that girl sat there beaming all night long. For a night, she was a hero to a lot of people. Knowing that these kids often go several days without ever eating makes the situation very different than just a pizza party.

About 2 months later she came to my apartment alone and we just talked for awhile. She was subtle and secretive and usually never said what was really on her mind, not very trusting. She really only said two things in between some long uncomfortable silences. She said she had just come back from one of the bridges downtown, and then she said she came back because of me.

I didn't have a clue what she was talking about until years later. Really. Not just because she's so secretive but sometimes I can be dense. The place she went to was a popular place for commiting suicide. She remembered what I had told her. There were now 15 people in the world who considered her a hero, a life-saver and a girl with a very big heart and would never forget what she had done for them.

Once you have a status like that, you have a power base that no one can take away. Even when someone tells you you're worthless, you have a voice inside saying "BS. Not so, and I have friends to prove it."

I'm a 24 year old college grad and I'm feeling pretty hopeless about life after college. I'm restless at work and can't shake the horrible feelings I get when I think of continuing to work the same job in the same building with the same people for the rest of my life.

The thing is, my job is not bad. I think the problem for me has more to do with the monotony of nothing but work with a few weekend days off. I feel like I have no idea how to find a job that I truly love.

If you make a lot of money and are not satisfied with you job, then you will eventually get miserable and look elsewhere - perhaps settling for a job with less money. Money has the tendency to make some jobs more satisfying. Lack of money can make even good jobs less satisfying. You actually need a good mix.

I do and I was in Vegas once, had never gambled before sat down and had the same feelings you describe. A bomb could have went off and I would not have noticed or moved. My husband at the time pulled me away but as we walked thru the casino, man I HAD to put money in each machine I went by.

I tried the roullette table, that was fun and I had the same feeling as the slots and at both places I had no idea how to play any of the games.

I actually realized that the 2 times my husband tried to get me away from both games, I became angry. I didn't like that I felt that way and realized at that point that since I have an addicting personality, and it really showed its ugly face and leaving the roullette table is the exact time I realized that.

So for the next 3 days (and we had aonly arrived a few hours before thisd revelation I had) I tried to avoid all gambling. Hard to do there, but I was able to do it, thank goodness.

So everyone or mostly everyone gets some kind of enjoyment out of playing slots, come on - its fun but when that warm comfy cozy, warm and fuzzy feeling is more that just having a little fun, then you need to be careful. And yes, I think sitting there at the slots for literally 12 hours straight is excessive. but I also understand how the time flies because the fun is fantastic.

You're going on both ends of the spectrum...

Sony is notorious for poor construction and durability. I can't tell you how many Viaos I've seen die after a few months of mobile use. They're always loosing keys or cracking cases. On the other end Panasonic's toughbooks are designed to withstand an awful amount of beatings, but aren't designed with the most features or power... they're made to survive.

I highly recommend IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads for the most bang for your buck if you're looking for an office/school/portable laptop.

If you plan on taking it hiking, mountainbiking, or skydiving - go for the toughbook!

I have an interview tomorrow for a position in which there will be several questions about customer service and making sure that customers are satisfied.

What sort of questions do you think I'll get? How would you answer those questions?

Steven, one of the best things to do is have a situation that you can tell them about, where you turned a negative customer experience into a positive one.

For example, when customers are angry and you don't have a manager around, rather than letting the customer rant or worse, you ranting back, in a civil voice, ask the customer what you can do to resolve the issue? What would satisfy them? Let them guide you. More often than not, they'll either say "nothing" and will be apologetic, or they will want some type of refund, and then not a 100% refund. They will usually ask for much less than you think they will ask. But you have made them happy by giving what they asked, and they will go away content that someone listened to them.

That's a technique for calming down a customer but you might say it's what you would do under those circumstances.

If you've actually resolved customer complaints, pick out your best story and relate that one. Emphasize your listening skills.

Also tell the interviewer that you believe in leaving your own problems at the door when you enter work, and no matter how you feel, your game face is on! It's important that the public never know we ourselves, might have just suffered a major loss or have something else on our minds other than the customer.

It's all about the customer, and that's what interviewers expect from CS people. (But also remembering you're part of a business so you need to keep the business's goals and objectives in mind. It's not necessary to "give away the store" to satisfy customers all the time, either. That would erode a company's profits).

Often times, recruiters will give you a scenario and ask how you would handle it. And always have a smile in your voice, on the telephone.

You should get a feel for that before you go into the interview, so you know how to respond to questions. If the company has businesses as customers, then customer satisfiction is often defined by on-time delivery rates, shipping discrepancies reported, failure rates, mean time to failure, mean hold time (for customer interaction centers), percentage of time customer's issue was solved with the first call, customer satisfaction survey ratings, and changes in market performance (if your customers aren't telling you directly, they may be telling you indirectly by taking their business elsewhere). Customer sat surveys often contain questions like: were you satisfied with the products, were the product delivered on time, were you satisfied with the ordering experiences, will you continue to order product from our company, how would you rate our company compared to our competitors.

If a company has individuals as customers, customer sat is measured in much the same way, but emphasis is placed on individual customer experiences (i.e. each individual sale to each individual customer) as opposed to the collective experience of one company with another company.

Questions that you may get include: explain a time when a customer of yours was dissatisfied with your company or their products and what did you do to solve the customer's issue, what key metrics would you use to gauge a customer's satisfaction, if a customer called in with complaint x, what steps would you take to solve the customers issue, etc.

I was the first person in my family to graduate from college. While I was studying, so many people expressed doubts about what I was doing and told me that I should give up and find something else to do with my time. When I graduated, I did something that no one else in family was able to do and was able to overcome enormous obstacles to do it. I've worn that like a badge of honor since I graduated.

I dropped out twice before graduating, so my greatest satisfaction was just the accomplishment of having done it!

i actually work in tech support, and i gotta tell you, alot of people that call are jerks. Most people are very nice though. In my professional opinion, I would say its about 85-90%. The people who do get their problem resolved are really satisfied and acknowledge it, but the negative calls and negative reactions are the ones that you remember and stay with you.

The county vo-tech school or community college (perhaps non-credit course) should be a lot more affordable.

I went in today to return an item... I first got accused of trying to return an item that wasn't available at walmart (i had the receipt!).. when they finally and rudely realized that they were wrong they tried to tell me that the apparel (work overalls) were USED (they were not.. simply had dust on one cuff.. maybe from being tried on). I talked to the manager who told me that he would simply not "humiliate" his employee by making her apologize. I expressed that they put me thru the wringer for a while by accusing me of stealing and then returning something that was used.. that they humiliated me in front of everyone for no reason.. he told me that he's sorry for that but essentially that's the way it goes. How does one get relief over major conglomerates who couldn't care less about the consumers? I will never shop Walmart again.

Reply:As someone alluded to above... WalMart is successful because it is CHEAP. Unfortunately, this means low paid employees and managers, which can sometimes mean poor quality people who care little about your satisfaction.

Yes, you took a good step by refusing to go back, and yes, you are only 1 customer... but take heart that if the situation repeats enough times, and enough customers leave, they will get the message... and lambasting them across the Internet should make you feel better too. A lot of people will see your posting here.

I guess if you wanted to really drive the message home you could always write a letter or otherwise try to contact WalMart management. I'm certain this isn't they way they would LIKE their employees to act. I'll let you decide whether it is worth your effort (you aren't likely to get anything for it other than a little satisfaction)

It depends on the person. I am motivated to achieve by personal satisfaction because of the type of business I own. I custom design Tiki huts, bars, etc. and I am proud of my work and want it to be very beautiful and make people sigh when they see the finished product.
Reply:the more difficult it is, the better the satisfaction to succeed. Life is a game, sometimes we win, sometimes we loose, sometimes we are just sitting on a bench waiting to get in.
Reply:Everyone is different. Myself, I'm motivated by all 3 and many more as well. Some mighty not want fame and would rather just be satisfied personally. Some might be willing to forgo personal satisfaction for riches. Most people, I think have a mix of all 3 to varying degrees.

I enjoy helping people. I try to answer the ?'s on here honestly; I volunteer with the local Ambulance Bay; %26amp; I planted a flowerbed this year for some Disabled Individuals.

We do other peoples grocery shopping, provided a bed for people who were temporally homeless, taken people to Er in the middle of the night, mowed lawns for neighbors who were unable to do it themselves and rakes and bagged their leaves when they couldn't . I guess that just comes under being neighborly.

Pay workers more money. Quit offshoring and outsourcing IT support. Hire people to support users in the same country (ie Indian users get connected to Indian tech support, Canadian users get Canadian tech support). Train tech support properly. Treat them well. Work to retain experienced workers.

I'm not certain I understood your question. You may want to expand it a bit.

All marketing is reaching out to YOU. When you market you're reaching out to let people know that they are the most important person in the universe.

We only market to a single person really. As we present our marketing we utilize the word YOU all the time to remind the customer that they are the focus, not us.

If we include customer satisfaction with techniques like guarantees we are proving beyond just saying that they are the most important thing to us.

The way your company handles complaints, refund requests, and support questions reinforces the YOU attitude or negates it.

Word of mouth will prevail and the negative or positive impact will be profound upon the marketing because your reputation will precede your marketing campaign.

I believe leadership has everything to do with the performance, motivation, and satisfaction of teachers and staff. I am a teacher myself and have worked under at least five different leaders. They have all ranged from the best to the worst. If a leader is not willing to give it their best, then those under him/her are less willing to give their best efforts. Fortunately, I am self motivated and have given my best regardless of leadership, but I have certainly noticed that some of my colleagues have not given much when under the leadership of someone unmotivated, shall we say. I suppose I compare it to my classroom: when I set high standards, my students, for the most part, try their best even if it is challenging, while if I don't set high standards, many don't do very well at all. It is also very helpful when leadership tells their faculty/staff that they are doing a good job. As humans, we all need a "pat on the back" from time to time. Hope this is helpful to you.

What Zita stated was well said. I would add that leadership that backs up its teachers and staff (or not) can have a tremendous affect. We live in a society where parents have relinquished much of their responsibility for raising their children and often fully expect teachers and school personnel to "do their jobs" so to speak. Its important for school administrators to stand behind their staff and back them up on established principals and rules. An administrator that has a reputation for being a "parent pleaser" will eventually loose the respect of his or her staff and undermine their authority in the classroom.

The ultimate satisfaction is when you are surrounded by people you love and people that loves you too. Like your mom and dad, brothers and sister, your kids and relatives. You have all the material things you dreamed. Like a nice house, cars, appliances, furniture and electronics and a secured job for you and your partner. You have to find your luck. Try to travel as life is adventure anyway. That is what i did and you just reminded me on how blessed i was. thank you... When i tried to travel like 10 years ago, my mom was stopping me and keep telling me all the negative things and its good that i did not listen to her and now i've got all my brothers with me and my parents although they all have their own home now. My mom's brother and sisters followed my footstep too and now they all made it here in US. I can't believe it myself not even them maybe. its like a miracle.

We homeschool--so I feel it all the time. Even though, there are times I have to relearn something I've forgotten to teach it to them. But, I usually have that feeling of 'oh yes, I remember that' when I start to look over the material! You know multiplying fractions, algebra etc!

Yes! Thats part of a plus in being a young mom...memories haven't started fading yet. I can say that I teach more of what I have learned out of school though. I find myself teaching a lot of things that I have researched, and learned myself.
